Creating and assigning tasks the right way
Everything about tasks — creating, editing, reassigning, and tracking progress — with real examples and the mistakes new managers make.
What a task is
A task is one discrete job one or more workers need to complete. "Weed the tomato rows" is a task. "Farm the farm" is not.
Creating a task
- Click + Add Task.
- Give it an action-verb title.
- Add a description with specifics a new worker would need.
- Pick the field it belongs to.
- Assign one or more workers.
- Set priority: High (today), Medium (this week), Low (this month).
- Set a due date and estimated hours.
Task statuses
- To Do — default state.
- In Progress — someone is actively working on it.
- Done — finished, timestamp saved.
- Blocked — can't move forward; always add a note explaining why.
Mistakes new managers make
- Titles that are too vague.
- Marking everything High priority.
- Never clearing Blocked tasks.
- Creating tasks without fields.
